I have a Mac mini intel core duo with 2GB of ram.

1. CD audio starts and after a few seconds it just stops. Other game audio works fine it's just CD audio tracks. The only CD game I have is Y's Book I & II so this is the only game that I tested.

2. Using the arrow keys to select a rom with the built-in game chooser does not work properly. Pressing up or down skips 2 spaces rather that 1. So if the highlight is on game number 1 in the list and I press the down key the highlighted box goes to game number 3 rather than 2. If I press up then the cursor goes back to game number 1. So, it's impossible to select game number 2 in the list by using just the keyboard. Using the mouse works fine.

3. Is there a way to auto hide the OS X mouse cursor while playing a game? It's kind of annoying to see the mouse arrow on the screen while in full screen mode.

Even with these little annoyances this is definitely the best TG16 emu on the planet. Thank you so much for releasing a UB version for OS X. It was worth every penny registering.

3) No, the mouse cursor can not be hidden yet, I'm working on that.

1) and 2) are strange, all works fine here. 1) can happen when MagicEngine encounter an error while reading CDDA data but such errors are very very rare, or may be you have a bad CD, try playing the audio tracks in OS X too to see if the same problem happens. About 2) does this happen only in the game list or also in other menus, like the main menu?

1) Disc plays fine in other CD players including OS X. It drops out only in ME.

2) This only happens in the rom selection menu. All other menus work fine with the keyboard. I even tried deleting my prefs file and starting over and it still happens.

3) Great!

1) Have you tried using a real System Card 3 ROM?

I could have sworn we caught that bug early during the beta, but maybe it came back later..

I just tried the System 3 card rom and it still cuts out after about 2-5 seconds.

The game plays fine in my Turbo Duo.

I got my hands on a couple backup games, "Dragon Slayer: The Legend of Heroes" and the "Gate of Thunder/Bonk/Bomberman" disc. They both play fine in my Turbo Duo but the music is sporadic in ME. Dragon Slayer does not play the overworld music but audio dialog plays fine. Gate of Thunder plays the music for the stages but it loops about the first 5 seconds instead of playing the entire track.

Again, I'm not complaining at all. I love ME and I'm having a blast playing my games, soundless or not.

2) Also, when using my wireless XBOX 360 controller the rom menu selection works as it should. It only acts wacky when I use the keyboard.

I played Ys Book I & II today and on my PPC Mac the audio does not fail out on me, and the menu's also work fine. Just a FYI.

Good news! I have found and fixed the cursor keys bug and I have finished the mouse cursor auto-hide code too, so it's time for another tiny update. Smile

I will make a news soon but you can already grab it here : MagicEngine 1.0 PR 10.2

About the CDDA problem, I didn't find anything but I have added some extra debugging messages to this new update, try it and post the log.txt file here (the file is in /Users/your_name/Library/Application Support/MagicEngine/)

Awesome!!! You work fast. The cursor hide and the keyboard issues are perfect now. Thank you for taking the time to get these features added.

Here's my log.txt file after trying to play Ys Book I & II. Looks like my disc might be bad? Strange that it plays in my Turbo Duo without problems:

It's looks more like a CD drive issue. Is it an external USB device?

Ah, we know what's wrong now. Smile

Yes, it's strange that it works with other CD players but not with MagicEngine, or may be I should try to re-read the sector when there's an error, and eventualy skip it, that's probably what the other players do. I dunno if this will help but try to change the disk speed in MagicEngine, it's x8 by default, try min and max. BTW, what kind of CD-ROM drive is it? an external one?

I tried min and max CD speed and it still cuts out. Randomly it plays longer than other times. A few times I thought it might have been fixed because it played further into the track but then it cuts out again.

I'm using the DVD drive built into my Mac mini. I've ripped many audio and DVD discs to my system using this drive and haven't had any issues.

Sounds to me like either a dirty or badly scratched cd. OR the crap dvd drives they put in Macs these days. If it is the disk, I'd suggest a making a backup and using that. Some drives can be very picky about those things.
