I just attempted to get Valis II to play, and have noticed that no music
plays (I assume there's speech during the cinema scenes, and that doesn't
play as well.)
I tried all three Magic System and System Card settings, but to no avail.
This CD is the Genuine Article, not a burn.

System specs:
Windows XP - Home
2.1 G Pentium IV
514 MB RAM
Magic Engine 0.99b5 (Registered)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you read this : http://www.magicengine.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=362
You will see that you are missing the audio cable. We can do nothing to help you as this is a physical problem, nothing related to software. If you really want audio under Magic Engine you can send your PC to a shop where they will install an audio cable for you. Or you can try your luck with "someone who knows" how the inner innards of a PC works.

You can try this or wait for version 1.0 which will fix the sound issue.

Btw, Intel never made Pentium4 cpu's with impair numbers under the 400MHz bus over 2.0GHz, only 1.9GHz & lower. They only have some with the new 533MHz bus, & even then the lowest 533MHz bus cpu is the 2.26GHz one. So, you have the new socket 478 Celeron 2.1GHz my friend, nothing to do with a Pentium chip. This is of course, only for your information. Amaze your friends with your new knowledge! Wink .

Yeah, I saw that since I posted this. But the really odd thing is this: I get
partial sound on Rondo of Blood (about two tracks of the music work, as
does the Grim Reaper's speech at the beginning) and full sound on Dragon
Knight III. WTF?
When is 1.0 due out?

Actually, it is a Pentium 4, it's 2G, (Actually 1.9 GHz) I miswrote it in the first post.

The sounds you are hearing are PSG & PCM. I think PSG means programmable sound generator while PCM means programmable ******* Modulator. The sound you are not hearing is red book audio, standard "music cd' sound which ( for an unknown reason to me ) cannot pass through the 'digital cd playback' of Windows ME, 2K & XP. The only option you have ( for now ) is through the old analog audio cable, until v1.0 that is...

Ah, a typo... The P4 1.9 is still worlds apart from the celery... Good choice of a cpu, if only Pentium 4's had more IPC Crying or Very sad id be a happy Intel owner...

Pulse Code Modulation. Wink

So no word on the status of v1.0 yet, other than the January post?
