I know this is among the most common problems with the magic engine... but I really need to get Dracula X working. The problem is the music, i can't hear anything but the sound effects.. i think it's because of the fact that i've got win xp. I'm quite sure the cd is working, i can listen to the music on my stereo, but it doesn't work in magic engine. I've tried all system cards and such, and i've been trying to solve this for several days. Here's what shows in my magic engine log file:

Simple : you don't have the audio cable. Nothing can be done by us, you need to go into a shop & get one installed. Im guessing you have little or no experience with assembling pc's otherwise you'd have installed the cable yourself...

Im guessing it's a brand name pc right? Confused

God I love my Frankenstein box Mr. Green .

The audio cable between your sound card & the cd-rom you're trying to use with Magic Engine.

Easy : there are 3 cables that can get out of any cd-rom.

1: A 40 or 80 pin IDE ribbon ( big flat grey cable. Connected to your motherboard )
2: a 4 pin molex power connector ( a white connector with 4 different colored cables that comes out of your power supply )
3: the famous audio cable ( usually a small grey cable with a black connector, but sometimes grey or white )

Easy doesn't it?

Hmm
I've connected the audio cable to my second CD drive, since it was already connected to the first, and it didn't work, so i thought i should try with the other one. But it still doesn't work. I switched off the "enable digital cd-audio for this device" in properties for the cd drive as well. What should i do??

Is this the only CD game you got? is it an original or backup? do any other cd games work?

Try installing an ASPI layer, you can get one from Adaptec ( or just about anywhere on the web, just do a search about " ASPI download " or something like that ).

If it's a problem with the Soundblaster Live! I can't help you. I absolutely hate Creative products ( back from the days of the venerable KT133 chipset from VIA Wink ).
