First off, great app David..glad to see good tools being brought out.

Next, I tried the player (not with any CDs) but just PSG playback...after loading the AlienCrush.psg, all I hear is garbled noise. Any settings on the player we should know about?

System specs below:

Dell Precision WorkStation 530 MT
Duel Intel XEON 2.4GHz
2GB RAM
SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
XP PRO w/SP1
DX 9.0a

I have made a new version :

http://www.magicengine.com/player012-english.zip

I have completely rewritten the synchronization function, now even if something goes wrong the sound engine should re-sync and continue to play the sound normally. In the previous version if things went out of sync the engine would not always re-sync. Finger crossed! Pray

Let me know if it works better.

Yes! Dancing

Could someone test with some CDs too?
PC-Engine or audio CDs, both work.

For my side :
Pce Cds , PcFx Cds and Audio Cds play fine since the first version while Psg files are playing smoothly since .0.1.2 only.
Maybe you could make the player generate a .log file like ME does for acccurate reports concerning users configuration Idea ?

Also being able to use the player as a background activity while doing other stuff would be very nice . Angel

Mindblowing. I'm listening to Babylon 5 right now Drool

The PSG engine is flawless and the CD digital playback works perfect. If MagicEngine is going to sound exactly like this, I'm out to buy a pile of Kleenex boxes straight away Wink

[Edit] David, could you please log the first level of Aero Blasters and the main theme of Devil Crash? They are very good tests for noise and PCM channel respectively.

Yes. Personally I would like Military madness's title song as ( the 'almost old' ) Magic Engine had problems with it...

Just a sugestion though...
