Hey there,
I was away from anything pce for a long time (beside my very own PCE+CDRom˛+ACD Pro) and what did I saw tonight? a new magic engine wooooooooot!!! It's time to make use of that old pce.key I got a while back.

My first comment:
- The interface is nicely redone with a modern touch to it
- I really don't like the Pad config window. I'm sorry but I don't know wich buton is buton 12 on my pc pad Smile it'll be better if we can just press the buton on the pad and associate it with a pce buton (my 2 cents)
- Graphic filters are totaly awesome when combined together (and it's 60fps on my Athlon 3200+)
- I don't see any wait vbl option anywhere but it's certainly not available in the preview (I hope)

just a question: fullscreen mode is quite good but do you plan on adding real aspect ratio from the original hardware?

Finale note, All I have to say is : WAWWWWWWWW!!! NEW MAGIC ENGINE!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I must admit i totally second this !
099b5 pad configuration style is way more intuitive/easier.

Same here on everything.

Great new GUI but with some problems with the CD ROM menu that i'll write off to this being a PR (proly has to do with I have 21 virtual CD/DVD drives combined with only 1 phisical drive).

Controller config needs to be cleaned up. Either change it so the user just presse a button on the image of the PCE pad like is done for the new KB config or slightly alter the curent setup so pressing a button on yer gamepad will make one of the button options light up as most of us have no clue what button is what.

I would lean more twords making it work like the KB config as it is both more simple to setup and it looks uniform with the KB config screen that way.

Yeah, I agree with GeneralLeoFF on the CDROM Problem. I have two real CD drives, but I run my games off my Hd using a virtual drive. When I try to boot a CD off the virtual drive, the window with the Drive letters and whats in them isn't quite big enough to hold all three entries, so my virtual drive's entry goes into the background. The emulator detects that a "PCE CD" is in the virtual drive, but it won't let me select it.

Not my fault, logically instead of the list of buttons you should get a nice picture of your gamepad. This is what I get with my Sidewinder :

This is a feature of DirectX, when a gamepad driver is installed it can also install some pictures for programs to use, unfortunately this isn't well supported... Go complain to Microsoft and gampepad makers, not to me! Razz

I understand now what doesn't work for me also.
This feature that displays the controller is going to cause many interrogations.

Concerning the sound, it seems perfect, I like it very much

well I use a xbox pad, so no real maker support if you know what I mean Smile
I just tried Akumajou Dracula X, the sound is going on and off during the intro.
I don't have any audio cable on my dvd burner, it plays audio cd via IDE, maybe there's a problem with that.
anyway to disable fps display and audio vumeter?

May be the buffer I use is too small. Is it regular?

That will be possible but not in the preview version.

It's very regular, something like each 0.5s
My xbox pad is one of the best I've ever used, I'm gonna stick to it Smile

Looks like i'm in the same boat as Ishan666 with my PlayStation controller :)

I can get around the problem pretty easy myself with a little bit of work. I also already got around the problems with the un responsive controller by just using JoyToKey (google for it). It is an effective temporay fix until the real problem is solved.

just retried Drac X, It's more like every 1s
and there's a graphic bug, when it goes from the konami logo to the first screen of the intro, some ghost line remain from the logo.

I don't really care if I get a pretty picture of my controller, I just want to be able to map buttons to it and it work. Maybe reverting back to the old setup would be better.

David, is your sidewinder pad USB or serial?

It looks like David is using the following feature of DX:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/directx9_c/directx/input/using/actionmap/configuringactionmap.asp

There reason that practically nobody else uses it is because it is only fully supported by some very old Microsoft Gamepads and a few other old models from other manufacturers

But I don't really care about the picture. I would be happy just if my gamepad worked within games played on Magic Engine.
