Sorry didn't mean to come off like an @ss. May I ask what type of controller you're using?

No harm done :)

I'm using an eight years old PlayStation pad through a SmartJoy Deluxe USB adapter. It works just perfect and even supports DualShock analog pads.

I bought a PSX to USB adapter yesterday from RadioShack. It didn't help me at all. Thats the third USB controller configuration I've tried. Sad

From what I can tell of the updated PR3, it seems the last remaining obstacle in the pad support is the calibration; it should hopefully be fixed in a matter of days, if not sooner.

Yup, I already have a patch for the calibration (with new options in the pce.ini file for now but later I will add a gui window to manage these options). And I have lowered a bit the default calibration too, this should fix the random unresponsive direction problem. Now if my provider would reactivate the site that would be cool. They so slow to reply though... I'm not sure if the site will be back today. Sad

Nostalgic? Yes a bit...I regret the old but userfriendly system where you click the button I or the button II on the PCE pad display and the software just waits for your joypad input to set the thing...

David mentioned that he was going to replace code since the feature he intended isn't supported much. Just give him some time Smile

Registered just to post this:

I am very interested in purchasing Magic Engine, but my joypad doesn't work as well. I use a Super Dual Box 2 (PSX to USB)

http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=160&products_id=3176&PHPSESSID=d124498780b934aa8fe5cd2deb45198d

and Magic Engine doesn't see my joypad at all. It works fine in every other emulator...

I see that you're making progress, but thought you'd need to know that the above still doesn't work at all.

Am I the only person with this device?

I really like the new input setup myself. But it needs to allow you to assign some emulator functions to the pad too, like mame does. Course, if you read my gamepad post, you know I can already do this Wink
I bought a PSX to USB adapter yesterday from RadioShack. It didn't help me at all. Thats the third USB controller configuration I've tried. :(
The RadioShack adapters are SmartJoys in a diffrent shell. Right now there not working correct under ME 1.0 but there the best adapter you can get for using a PSX Dual Shock on a PC. Though I dont like much that they use the cross pad as 4 more buttons rather then a POV but this is proly to overcome a technical limitation of the controller itself that disabled the crosspad when in analog mode.

The current RadioShack adapter is a repackage of a SmartJoy Plus (the best adapter on the market) and there older adapter (the one I own) that they no longer sell was a repackage of the original SmartJoy. The original adpater only supported 3 axes rather then 4 and could only map 12 buttons. The crosspad and the left analog stick are shared (if you set th crosspad to directinal movment in a game and then switched the gamepad to analog mode it would use the left stick for directinal movment and the crosspad would be disabled) and the right stick was used as a slider. Funny thing is some programs and emulators like ePSXe and PSXeven using diffrent gamepad plugins could use the controller in diffrent ways. basicly making it work like it was the more advanced SmartJoy Plus but without the rumble feature.

I would be intrested in knowing how the hell diffrent gamepad plugins and programs can seemingly override the controllers drivers and use it in more ways then it is saposed to support. I would like to write some custom drivers to imporve older RadioShack/SmartJoy adapters. Oh and right now I have my adapter running on SmartJoy PLUS drivers as they are backwards compatable but they wont allow me to use extra features.

Anyway just a bit of information about the RadioShack adapters. Dont feel you wasted yer money or anything cuz you got the worlds best adapter at nearly half the price the people that dont know RadioShack just repackaged them paid for it. I'm going to go buy a new one in a couple days now as I want to use all the buttons at the same time and have rumble.

Oh yea. Forgot the ther little know aspect of a SmartJoy/RadioShack adapter that you may find udefull. If you have a PlayStation 2 DVD remote controll kit these adapters are compatable but not all the buttons. Just FYI incase you ever wanted a cheap remote controll for yer favorite media player.

Anyway thats a bit off topic so i'm done :)
