Some games are like this. Nothing can be done with this because it was
like this with the original TG-16 & PC Engine. Sad

I'm sure there a setting in the .ini file somewhere that allows you to alter the timing slightly and synch games up better. I had to do it ages ago (using Solid Force was a good test because of all the speech), but I forget what it was now.

Smile You might be able to adjust it slightly but this is really a problem
that plagued the TG-16 & PC Engine and the ME can't do much to
solve this.

Citation needed. Where have you read this BS?

The problem comes from a hardware limitation. Nowadays PC drives are spinning too fast, but the spinup/spindown time is way too slow. Some games were expecting the drive to mechanically warmup/spin at a given speed, which explains why in most emulators some cutscenes start before the CD track is actually ready. This behaviour cannot be "emulated" properly without resorting to a combination of virtual drives and built-in game profiles, like with the Ootake emulator.

Well I said "Some games are like this. Nothing can be done with this because it was like this with the original TG-16 & PC Engine. "

Let me ask you something Kaminari ? Do you own a " Real " Turbo Duo
or a " Real" TG-16/PC Engine CD-ROM ? Do you have " All " CD & SCD
games to prove me wrong ?

Wink I suggest you run a study on this with "all games "& buy a " Real " Turbo Duo" before sticking both feet in your mouth and calling this BS.

I own all games and real hardware, and I have never seen a noteworthy syncing issue. The original developers went to great lengths to ensure that seek/read timings were the same as those of the actual hardware - to the point where, if a read error occurred, the game would freeze until it read properly.

Kaminari is correct; modern hardware does not send those same signals synchronous with actual hardware reads, as the original hardware did.

I seriously doubt you own " All " the "Original" TG-16/PC Engine discs.
Because if you really still own a " Real " Turbo Duo and " All " the "Original" TG-16/PC Engine discs. You wouldn't need the Magic Engine.

An I own a few original games myself & I did own a " Real " Turbo Duo
and there is problems with syncing with some games.

So now here we have another member David Shadoff putting both
feet in their mouth Wink

Koolcat you'd better get informed before making silly comment... Rolling Eyes
Both Kaminari and Dave Shadoff know what they're talking about when it concerns PC-Engine stuff.
And yes Dave does own every games on that system, i guess you simply don't know his online database or related projects he worked on. Wink

@Squaresoft74

So Kaminari & Dave Shadoff made a game list, so what. Here is my Complete list of all CD & SCD games

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/turbocd/

http://www.vgrebirth.org/games/browse.asp?platform=55

That doesn't mean he owns all the " Original " discs & have a Turbo Duo. As I already pointed out of if he does then he doesn't need a Magic Engine . Now no where on either of these sites you mentioned or what any of you guys said has proved me wrong.

Now until you all can prove otherwise that there is not problems with syncing with some games. Then your all talking with both feet in your mouth. Wink

An it's koolkat not koolcat and remember that. Cool

Kids today... sheesh.

Anybody who has touched both the internet and a PC Engine knows me, and knows that I have tirelessly collected the entire set of released works over the past 20 years.

...And that I have the most extensive collection of printed materials about the PC Engine, probably in the world.

...And that I have been a driving force behind the reverse-engineering of the system.

...And that I wrote one of the first emulators, and participated in the creation of the C compiler and programming libraries.

...And that I have created several fan translations of the games.

...And that I have helped David Michel from time to time with tidbits of information about the system.

I don't need to prove anything. People will either believe you, or the rest of us - who actually have played the system and have long-established internet sites and have built up our reputations.

You're right, I don't *need* MagicEngine.
Nor do I *need* electricity. I just like it.

And you've proved nothing, except that you haven't played a real system.
"... or you wouldn't need MagicEngine."

I'm afraid the onus of proof lies with the lone dissenter making the outlandish statement -> That's you, Koolkat. "Citation needed", as Kaminari said.

Ah yes but it's all of you that are doubting me in the first place.
An since I no longer own a Turbo Duo or have the technical means
to show the proof that there are problems with syncing with some
games. I asked you all to test this out yourself.

Now if you think you are to smart to test this out yourself or don't
want to bother with it then that is not my problem.
