Now, if it against the rules to ask this, please tell me and I will delete. Also, I am not begging, just curious. Now, I wanted to know, because I heard that 1.00 will have digital sound, meaning I can play Dracula X with sound! Yippeee! Thanks for any rough estimate.

I had planned to release it soon, but lately I have been very busy with other things and I couldn't work much on MagicEngine. I'm having time again to work on it, but I have a lot of work to catch up now. This is difficult to give an estimate, and users expect a lot from this version, I better make sure it includes all the things I announced rather than releasing a lesser version quicker else they will burn me alive. ^^;

Alright! Thanks for the update. It is indeed better to wait for a good version then get an okay version quick. I will be here to buy it when it comes out!(I am 14, and I dont get much money a month, so I cant buy it till a moth or two.) Applause

Thanks, Dave. Even though I'm just dying to have it, it's better to take the extra time to release a quality product. Just don't take the Duke Nukem Forever route, please? Wink

(In case you wonder about it, it was Duke Nukem Forever, later, Duke Nukem Whenever, and if it ever gets released, it will be Duke Nukem Whatever. Razz )

ME 1.0 looks good so far! Good work David Surprised

[Edit]

There's something I've been wondering about the 512x224 screenmode. How will it be supported in TV Mode? Let's say I create a 512x448 custom resolution. Would it be possible for Magic Engine to only apply a 1x2 zoom instead of the usual 2x2 (so that the vertical resolution would be correctly displayed in full screen without the need to alter the horizontal resolution at all)?

The only problem I see is that such a method would still allow the scanlines, but any horizontal interpolation would be impossible I suppose (though a resolution of 512 pixels doesn't really need any interpolation Smile ).

I hope most of the bugs can be fixed before the ver. 1.0 release. Cool
Hope you can put more time to tune and test the new core.
Keep up the great work!Carry on! Applause

Yes, ME will do a 1x2 zoom.

To get horizontal interpolation just play in 1024x996 with a 2x4 zoom. Razz

The new graphic engine will allow nicer control of the scanlines at higher resolution, thanks to OpenGL.

The new sound engine as reported by David is giving me wild expectations! Shocked

The waveform tweaker in particular is really intriguing. The PSG to MIDI is a fine addition. And this built-in MML player looks like a pretty good solution for listening to those PSG tunes in CD games. Will it be possible to extract/save them in some way?

Can't wait for the release... Drool

May be. Wink

I dunno if I will have the time to define a MML format and add a save/load feature, but if it can't make it in this release it should be available shortly after. After v1.0 I will be able to release new versions a lot more often. Smile

That's great news, David.

Another question: I suppose this MML feature won't be limited to CD games but will be also available for cartridge games? There's a good third of HuCards (and all TurboChips) which were never ripped to HES.

Oh, I feel so excited... Rolling Eyes
